How To Turn Off Beeping On Gopro Hero 10
One of my favorite features along with voice commands on the later GoPro’s is the beep sound. However, there are certain situations where it’s favorable to have the beep sound turned off. Hence why I’m going to share with you how to turn off beeping on the GoPro Hero 10 Black.
Hero 10 Dashboard Menu Options
I’ll now share with you how to toggle the beeping sound ON & OFF.
First off, access the main dashboard of the Hero 10 by swiping down on the rear LCD screen to be presented with 8 small circular icons. Reading from top left to right listed below are the settings each icon represents.
- Voice Control
- Camera Beeps
- QuikCapture
- Screen Lock
- Grid
- Front Screen Settings
- Orientation Lock
- Max Lens Mod Mode
As you can see, the second icon in the menu option is a musical note. This icon turns the camera beeps ON and both OFF by tapping the icon with your finger. A single tap switches between ON & OFF.
When the icons are highlighted in blue they are turned ON. A gray icon denotes that the setting is switched OFF. That’s what makes the dashboard so useful, it allows access to some of the most used features quickly.
Reasons To Use The Beep Sound
As I mentioned earlier the beep sound is one of my favorite features on the GoPro Hero 10.
When the camera shutter is activated either by remote, smartphone using the Quick app, voice command or simply by hand. Knowing the shutter has been activated or in essence the GoPro is recording is vital feedback to the user.
As an avid skier, having the GoPro mounted on my ski helmet means I can’t see the rear screen on the camera when standing on the ski slopes.
Being able to activate video mode using voice command, then to hear a beep sound confirming camera record is a great feature to have.
There are so many other scenarios while using a GoPro to capture action sequences where the beep sound is great to have turned on. Some of which I’ve listed below.
- Mounting the Gopro onto a bite mount while surfing.
- Recording a hyperlapse while driving.
- Any action sport where the GoPro is mounted onto a safety helmet.
- Taking a group photo set on a 10 second timer.
- Recording in video mode on an extended selfie stick.
Of course there are times when the beep sound isn’t needed. Capturing footage in public places such as a restaurant or cafe for example. Turning the beep sound off would be more favorable.
How to Adjust the Beep Volume on the HERO 10
Follow these 7 simple steps to change the volume of the GoPro Hero 10 beep alerts.
- Access the Dashboard by swiping down on the LCD screen.
- Swipe right on the Dashboard.
- Tap the Cog Icon to access Preferences.
- Select General in the Preferences Menu by tapping the screen.
- Tap the Beep Volume setting.
- Now set the camera volume of the beeps.
- Choose between Low, Medium & High.
When it comes to choosing the volume between the 3 choices I tend to think of the environment I’m going to be recording footage.
As an example I set the volume to High when I’m skiing. If I’m hiking in a quiet forest with the GoPro mounted to a backpack then the low setting is my preferred choice.
