Practical Uses For The Mount Adapter Bundle

So you may be asking why do I need all these mounts and what real world practical uses do they have?

Let’s start by taking a look at the three mounts that house the Insta360 Go camera itself.

Magnetic Screw Mount

At the base of this mount you’ll find a ¼ x 20 thread insert which will screw directly onto a tripod adapter or the insta360 Invisible Selfie stick.

Without one of these mounts you’re limited to just using the magnetic apset of the Go 2. The Go 2 sits inside the housing via the magnet at the rear of the camera.

Magnetic Prong Mount

The prongs on this mount allow you to attach the Go 2 to any number of “traditional” style action camera mounts. This could include a chest harness, a backpack mount for example.

Having this versatility makes the Insta360 Go 2 much more than just a “POV” action cam that you hang around your neck via the magnetic pendant.

As with the screw mount the Go 2 is secured by magnetism which makes it quick and easy to move the camera from one mount to another.

Action Camera Mount

As with the prong mount this mount provides compatibility with any “GoPro” style mount. The difference being there is no magnet to hold the camera in place.

The reason for having a mount that physically holds the Go 2 in place is one of security. Although the magnetic mounting system works well, when it comes to more extreme sports such as skiing this is the mount to use.

Adhesive Base Mounts

The large curved mount along with its 3M adhesive pads

I have to say I’m quite impressed with the base mounts in this bundle. The reason being is the size of the base itself, particularly the curved base.

The curved base is large compared to most others of this type. Having a larger surface area in contact with the gear that you’re sticking the base to provides greater adhesion.

This extra adhesion is welcome for when mounting onto a ski helmet for example or perhaps a kayak decking.

3M Adhesive Pads

To go along with the 2 bases are 3 x 3M adhesive pads in which to stick the bases with. The pads are also profile cut to fit each base, which is a nice detail.

I’ll be using the curved mount on my ski helmet for the ski season. Not only will I be mounting the Go 2 but other larger action cameras such as the Insta360 X3 360 camera.

Final Thoughts

The Go 2 is ideal for recording those “POV” shots using the magnetic lanyard. However, if you want to expand your creativity with the Go 2 then this bundle opens up a whole load of other mounting options.

You can of course mount the camera via the ¼ x 20 thread on the charge case which will work for vlogging. It’s when it comes to more extreme sports and activities that you’ll need a more sturdy mount.

I definitely recommend adding this bundle to your Insta360 Go 2 accessories kit.
